Tango with Sense, and Sensibility
For 25 years, Melina and Detlef have been spreading their unique approach to social tango across Europe and the USA. Known for their deep embrace, musicality, and uncompromising commitment to improvisation, they’ve inspired dancers far beyond the steps.
In 2013, they began training teachers; in 2015, they created an instructional Book+Film, now considered a go-to resource for those who want to learn – or teach – tango with depth.
Though internationally recognized, they remain social dancers at heart. You’ll find them on the floors of local milongas or international events, simply enjoying the music and connection.
As pioneers of the Encuentro movement, they helped shape its culture. Together with their friends from the Tangokombinat, they offer high quality events for close-embrace dancers.
Melina and Detlef use role-change in their classes, embodying tango’s full dialogue. Melina, a skilled double-role dancer, dances both roles at events and also teaches together with female partners who have participated in the their teacher trainings.
Both Detlef and Melina continue learning because tango evolves constantly, offering new layers of musicality and connection at every stage of development.
